niin

niin handcrafts nature's treasures to create original jewellery and accessories, with sustainable and ethical practices at it's core. niin has built its name on its passion for unique design and raw creativity with a penchant for the chic and wearable. Its commitment to natural beauty and environmental responsibility inspires its individual aesthetic. Relying on natural materials, you'll discover simple pieces of nature up-cycled into inspiring treasures, which are worn with love the world over. As seen in VOGUE, The New York Times, Financial Times, Tatler, Cosmopolitan, Travel & Leisure, WWD, AsiaSpa, Ecozine. After seeing the amount of waste the fashion industry created first hand, Jeanine decided it was time for change and started niin in 2009 to offer people more sustainable, environmentally-friendly fashion. Jeanine decided the key ethos behind the brand would be to ‘tread lightly on the earth’ and sought to create artisan jewellery that combines natural materials and a light environmental footprint. niin’s unique and organic approach to design stems from Jeanine’s passion to preserve, share, and celebrate nature and all its beauty. Sourcing elements of her collections as waste materials from local restaurants and high-end furniture factories, Jeanine takes discarded shells and wooden off-cuts to give them new life in her designs. niin work with small artisanal businesses across South East Asia, supporting their communities and hand-craftsmanship for the production of our designs. niin’s first producers were a husband and wife team whom Jeanine befriended at a Hong Kong market. They still produce for niin today, alongside other businesses in Philippines and Thailand which Jeanine tries to visit regularly. niin works with various charities to raise awareness and funds for environmental causes including WWF Hong Kong, The Nature Conservancy, Cuipo, Bloom, Plastic Oceans, and The Shark Foundation; as well as local Hong Kong charities including The Women’s Foundation, Operation Santa, and Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation. Through her work Jeanine hopes to continue to spread a message of positivity and the importance of protecting and preserving the environment and our global community.
