Lorina Balteanu
Lorina’s collections of jewellery are direct reflection of their creator’s personality: they are bright in colours and have a unique character.
For better understanding of the inspiration behind her collections, one should imagine colourful valleys and hills of Moldova, the place of birth and first political engagements of the collection’s creator. A person with strong ambitions and determination, Lorina played an active role in political growth and democratization of her home country.
A writer, journalist, art critic and director of a mass media centre (publishing agency, radio, TV), she used all possible means to make her voice be heard.
“I couldn’t find a place for myself in a system such rigid as my country was before obtaining its independence from the Soviet Union. To get anything or to go anywhere you had to wait in line. There were line-ups everywhere and for everything, even for jewellery, which came in a very short assortment. Being a woman I knew that there was a huge demand for it. Bursting with ideas I decided to stop waiting and started creating it myself”, remembers Lorina.
Then came a calmer, serene period of her life, when a relentless fighter Lorina was going to become a mother of a little girl. During her long maternity days her passion for creating jewellery rekindled again. This time she was looking forward to develop her creation into real collections.
Other changes happened in her life at the same time. Lorina has moved to France, first to Nice, where she has opened an art gallery, then to Paris. From Moldova she brought along the forgotten techniques of lace making, characteristic to her region and based on a very intricate handmade knots combinations.
Inspired by nature (flowers, fruits, branches, leaves) Lorina’s jewellery combines innovative design with traditional craftsmanship, which produces extremely refined unique pieces. Truly every woman’s fantasy jewellery box waiting to be open…
